D. he asks Circe’s advice

When we look at the options present, we can see that there is cognitive ability being exercised on Odysseus’ behalf in three out of the four possible choices.  When he lies about his name to the Cyclops, he is outsmarting it.  When he participates in the archery contest he outsmarts his competitors by wearing a disguise.  When he escapes the Sirens, he outsmarts them by plugging his crew’s ears with wax and having himself bound so only he could hear the Sirens.  However, when Odysseus asks for Circe’s advice, he is relying on someone else’s cleverness.

I think it's D too, because with the others he is using his own intuitive to solve his problems, but in D he asks others for help.

(Pitchers through at his head.)
Aneli [31]

C) Pitchers threw at his head.

This line "Pitchers through at his head." uses the incorrect "through". This "through" means to go in and out of something, like a doorway. I walked through the doorway into the other room. The sentence needs the "threw" that means to take an object with your hand and propel it to another location. Threw is the past tense of the word throw. It is an irregular past tense verb, so it doesn't follow the rule of adding /ed/ to create past tense.
