Natali [406]

Answer:

a machine used for imitation

Explanation:

To simulate is similar to imitate. In the passage, the machine allows the turtles to move their legs as if they were swimming. It copies the conditions turtles need to swim.

Simulators can be mechanical, as in the example, but there are also virtual simulators which are used in all kind of experiments, training, and leisure. Think of videogames or flight simulators.

President George H.W. Bush is a very conservative and pragmatic leader. He showed these traits in dealing with foreign affairs. Before acting on a situation, he studies the policies first. An example of his conservatism and pragmatism involved China.

When the Chinese government gunned down their people who conducted a peaceful protest, the US government didn't react as harshly as its people wanted. They imposed limited sanctions. This is because President Bush knows that they still have to deal with China in the future. He did not burn down the bridge on this foreign relation.

To do this, restrictions were out on colonial trades and it was declared that only ships from England could bring commodities back into England. And also only English or colonial crew members could operate these ships. The colonists couldn't bring in goods using foreign ships.
