The Niagara Movement was a Civil Rights Movement Organized by  African Americans under the leadership of William Monroe Trotter and W.E.B. Du Bios. It was named Niagara after its first meeting which was held near Niagara fall in 1905. The movement erupted to oppose the disfranchisement and racial isolation that was faced by African Americans during that era.

The movement demanded equality for the American African with equal commercial opportunities in the regions of the south and their freedom from virtual slavery. It aimed at proving a decent economic life to the African Americans. In the matter of education, it just not only demanded for free but compulsory education to be independent of race. It also demands for equality before law, as to appoint judges independent of their races.

The movement came to an end after the abolition of Jim Crow Law that was totally facilitating racial discrimination between the native of America the African Americans. It eased supremacy over the American Africans. The movements' last meeting was held at Sea Isle City, New Jersy in 1909
