The united states was a part of the NATO ( North Atlantic Treaty Organization)which was a body set up to protect the rights and sovereignty of member states from external attacks
infact there were one of the originators of the association. the united states were also a member of OAS ( organization of American states ) this organization was regional forum for the discussion of political,economic and other important decision making process as it would affect the Western Hemisphere.they also focus on human rights protection the united states was also part of SEATO
