Which ratios is bigger 5:8 or 6:7

Mathematics

To find which ratio is bigger, we can first convert these ratios into fractions (it's easier, at least for me). Since ratios are just the division of two number, 5:8 = \frac{5}{8} and 6:7 = \frac{6}{7}. To compare these two fractions, we can turn them into decimals, but we don't have to solve for all the values after the decimal points (we only need the first few to compare, this is in case one of the fractions is irrational).

To find the fractions as decimals, we have to carry out the indicated division. 5/8 is 0.625 and approximately 0.86. Since the tenths digit of 0.86 is greater, 6:7 is the greater ratio.

Think of ratios as fractions.

5:8 is the same as 5/8

6:7 is the same as 6/7

Divide each fraction

5/8 = 0.625

6/7 = 0.857

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

0.857 > 0.625 ∴ 6:7 is greater, and is your answer

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hope this helps

Find the distance between the origin and the point (10,45,57)
Marina86 [1]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

3D space  (x, y, z)  = (10, 45, 57)

I will use  x² + y² = (2D Hyp)²  and (2D Hyp)² + z² = (3D Hyp)²

which is just x² + y²  + z² = (3D Hyp)²

10² + 45²  + 57² = (3D Hyp)²

100 + 2025 + 3249    =  5374   =   (3D Hyp)²    the destance from the origin

=  73.31    the destance from the origin
