It was the year 1664 in Delft and at the age of sixteen years old a girl named Griet lived with her family. Her father was a blind man which was caused by an accident. Soon employment was found for her as maid in a painters household whose name was Johannes Vermeer. As a maid she worked for the family for two years and was only allowed to visit her home and family on sundays. As her time their the artist Vermeer painted a portrait of her with pearl earrings and when his wife found out she was very angry.

Just to add she has to leave because of this and their is a movie about this portrait and Scarlett Johansson stars Greit. Hope this helps

When Griet was only sixteen years old she had to leave her family home in Delft, 1664. Her father was blinded in an accident, this caused her to have to leave early and find employment. Luck was on her side as she had found a job as a maid for a painter by the name, Johannes Vermeer. Griet lived in her employments' household for quite sometime, and was only allowed to visit her family on Sundays. On the other hand Vermeer used his employment as an artist to paint Griet. He had made Griet pierce her ears and wear his wife's pearls to paint her on a portrait. But when Vermeer's wife found out about this, she was very upset and quite angry.

hope this help fellow army :) <3
