What is missing from this free body diagram of a sled being pulled across level ice by a dog team

Answer:

The normal force

Explanation:

There are four forces acgint on the sled:

- the driving force, exerted by the dogs which pull the sled forward

- the frictional force, that act in the opposite direction of the driving force (backward)

- the weight of the sled, which is directed downward

- the normal force, which is the reaction of the surface on which the sled slides, and which pulls opposite to the weight (upward)

From the graph, we see that the only missing force is the one which is directed upward, so it must be the normal force.

The best and most correct answer among the choices provided by the question is the first choice.

A normal force must be exerted upward to the body from the ground to achieve equilibrium. The arrow would be upward, ant it could be labeled as FN.
I hope my answer has come to your help. God bless and have a nice day ahead!

A 2.55 kg block starts from rest on a rough inclined plane that makes an angle of 60 degree with the horizontal. the coefficient
lorasvet [3.4K]

Answer:

Change in mechanical energy = work done by friction

so it is equal to

W = -8.16 J

Explanation:

As we know that change in mechanical energy must be equal to the work done by non conservative forces only

So here when block moves down the inclined plane then the work done by friction force is given as

W = F.d

here we have

F = \mu F_n

here we know that

F_n = mg cos\theta

so we have

F_n = 2.55(9.81)(cos60)

F_n = 12.5 N

Now the friction force on the block is given as

F_f = \mu F_n

F_f = 0.25 \times 12.5

F_f = 3.13 N

now work done by the friction is given as

W = -(3.13)(2.61)

W = -8.16 J

Only two horizontal forces act on a 3.0 kg body that can move over a frictionless floor. one force is 9.0 n, acting due east, an
Zolol [24]
The first thing you should do for this case is to find the horizontal and vertical components of the forces acting on the body.
 We have then:
 Horizontal = 9-9.2cos (58) = 4.124742769 N.
 Vertical = 9.2sin (58) = 7.802042485 N
 Then, the resulting net force is:
 F = √ ((4.124742769) ^ 2 + (7.802042485) ^ 2) = 8.825268826 N
 Then by definition:
 F = m * a
 Clearing the acceleration:
 a = F / m
 a = (8.825268826) / (3.0) = 2.941756275 m / s ^ 2
 answer:
 The magnitude of the body's acceleration is
 2.941756275 m / s ^ 2

A wooden block floats a liquid with 1/4 of it's volume above the liquid.find the density of the liquid given that the density of
exis [7]

675g/cm³ is the density of the liquid

Here we have given that

density of wood be ρ.

the volume of the block be V

The volume of the block =1/4 v

The volume of the immersed block (v) =V-1/4V=3/4V

We know the weight of the block = the weight of the water displaced by the submerged part of the block.

i.e. V x ρ x g

= 3/4 x900g/cm³

= 675g/cm³

Density is a measure of mass divided by the volume of an object. Defined as mass per unit volume. here from the above equation we have substituted the given value and  we got the answer as 675g/cm³

Determjne the density of liquid whose relative density is 1.25 given that the density is 1000kgm-3
nlexa [21]

Explanation:

Relative density=density of liquid÷density of water

1.25=x ÷ 1000

x=1.25 × 1000

x=1250kgm^-3
