The Preamble to the Georgia State Constitution outlines the purpose of the text and the principles which the constitution is meant to serve. It serves as an introductory statement.

Article I of the State Constitution outlines the Bill of Rights, divided in Rights of Persons, the Origin and Structure of Government and other General Provisions. Many of these rights are similar to those contained in the U. S. Bill of Rights.
