The heat is trapped because carbon dioxide acts as a blanket around the earth, preventing the reflected heat with a much lesser energy to penetrate out into space. So we can see that planting of trees will go a long way into trapping and recycling the available carbon dioxide, reducing the general global warming and increase in global temperature.
