As shown in the presented diagram in the process of electron transport happens in the mitochondrial matrix.  The electron flow enables the forming of the ATP molecule, the most important energy molecules in the cells. Besides that, a molecule of oxygen acts as a receptor of electrons which results in forming a water molecule.
