Let's discuss some examples of thoughts:
1. I am happy
2. I need to buy more ham
3. I am not sure if she likes me.

while 1) can be expressed by pictures - :) and maybe by gestures, 2) and 3) can only be expressed by language. There are many thoughts that need the complexity of language - because of this people express their thoughts by using language mainly.
