I'll explain how, if you want the answers to fact check, ask in the comments.

If the first number is in the ones place, and there's no notation, it's 10^0 (number * 1), if the first number is in the tens place, it's 10^1 of the number if it was pushed back into the ones place. If the first number is in the hundreds place, it's 10^2 if it was...

You might get the idea, same applies to negative powers of 10:

If the first number is in the tenths place, it's 10^-1, if the beginning of the number was moved forwards into the ones place, and so on.

I hope I helped you, please ask questions if you need them, I might have delivered a confusing explanation.

For scientific notation you have to move your decimal to where you number value is between 1-10

so for example on number one you are going to have to move your decimal to the right 2 times to get 2.9 (a value between 1-10)

now you have to write it in scientific notation-ask yourself two questions: how many times did you move your decimal? we moved it 2 times in this problem. and was it to the right or to the left? if you moved it to the right (which is the direction we moved it in this problem) its going to be a negative exponent so our answer would be 2.9x10^-2

same thing with number 2 starting with 64,000 to get our value to a number between 1-10 we need to move our imaginary decimal at the end of our value 4 times to make 6.4

two questions:
how many times did we move it? 4
did we move it to the left or to the right? to the left (so our exponent is positive)

making our answer 6.4x10^4

if you want me to check your answers after you have finished let me know:)

Jose ran13 mile in 3 minutes and 15 seconds. Calculate Jose's rate in minutes per mile; in other words, the time that it would t
Alexus [3.1K]

Answer:

1 mile = 15 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

3 minutes and 15 seconds = 3 min + 15 sec

1 minute = 60 seconds

15 seconds =15/60 = 0,25 min

then

3minutes and 15 seconds = 3.25 minutes

13miles in 3 minutes and 15 seconds

= 13 miles / 3.25 minutes

= 4 miles / 1 minute

every minute Jose ran 4 miles

then:

4 miles is a 1 minute

1 mile is a T minutes

T = 1*1/4

T = 1/4 minute

1 minute = 60 secomds

1/4 minute = 60*1/4 = 60/4 = 15 seconds

Kit and Kat are building a kite for the big kite festival. Kit has already
Lunna [17]

Kat should tell Kim that It's too late to change the area of this kite because the length of the diagonals of a kite determines its area.

How to calculate the area of a kite?

In Mathematics, the area of a kite is equal to one-half the product of the length of its diagonals. Mathematically, the area of a kite can be calculated by using this formula:

A = ½ × d₁ × d₂

Where:

 • A is the area of a kite.
 • d₁ and d₂ are the length of the diagonals of a kite.

Since Kit has already cut his sticks for the diagonals, Kat should tell him that it's too late to change the area of this kite because the length of the diagonals of a kite determines its area.
