Based on the given figure above, if were to take a cross section parallel to the base of one of the holding tanks, we can describe the shape as therefore, a rectangle. Originally, the holding tanks shape is a rectangular prism, but when cutting it in a cross section, you will see that the shape would be rectangle. Hope this is the answer that you are looking for.

Hi could you please answer the following questions on upper and lower bounds. Please provide full working out for each answer. T
Nutka1998 [239]
Ok so I will do only one and only put the answer for the others
ok so nearest xmm means that you havet o find teh smalles then largest so

1. legnth times width=area
so find max and min area
5 mm eror
legnth=645
width=400
so the legnth and witdth could be area
640 (subtract 5 for rerror) and 395 (subtract 5 for error
or
650 (add 5 for error) and 405 (add 5 for error)

so areas could be
640 times 395=252800
650 times 405=263250
upper bound=263250 mm^2
lower bound=252800 mm^2
so basically subtract the error to find minimum possible area and then add error to original measues to find max possible area

2. upper bound=29 m
 lower bound=27 m

3. perimiter=2(L+W)
2((145-5)+(28-1))=lower bound=334 m
2((145+5)+(28+1))=upper bound=358 m

4. (35-1)(26-1)=lower bound=850 cm^2
(35+1)(26+1)=upper bound=972 cm^2

5. 2 sig figs (not sure about this question as much)
nonzeros are significant
30 is 1 sig fig since 0 is not significant
therfor
30.9 to 30.0
18=2 sig figs so that is alreight
upper bound of width=18
30.9 times 18=upper bound=556.2 cm^2
30.0 times 18=lower bound=540 cm^2

ANSWERS

1. upper bound=263250 mm^2
lower bound=252800 mm^2

2. upper bound=29 m
 lower bound=27 m

3. lower bound=334 m
upper bound=358 m

4. lower bound=850 cm^2
upper bound=972 cm^2

5. upper and lower bound o 18=18

upper bound=556.2 cm^2
lower bound=540 cm^2

What is the answer to 7 or 8???
Eddi Din [679]

Answer:

7. parallel:  k = 3

   perpendicular:  k = -4/3

8. $1300

Step-by-step explanation:

7.

Rewrite each equation as the slope-intercept form of a linear equation:

y = mx + b (where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept)

  8y = 12x + 6

⇒ y=\dfrac32x+\dfrac34

   4y = k(2x + 10)

⇒ 4y = 2kx + 10k

⇒ y = \dfrac12kx + \dfrac52k

If the graphs are parallel their slopes will be the same.

\implies \dfrac32=\dfrac12k

\implies k=3

If the graphs are perpendicular then the product of their slopes will be -1.

\implies \dfrac32 \times \dfrac12k=-1

\implies \dfrac12k=-\dfrac23

\implies k=-\dfrac43

8. Create a linear equation, where x is the number of coffee mugs and y is the total cost (in dollars).

Choose 2 ordered pairs from the table:  (10, 110) and (20, 195)

Let (x_1,y_1) = (10, 110)

Let (x_2,y_2) = (20, 195)

Use the slope formula to find the slope m:

\implies m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}=\dfrac{195-110}{20-10}=\dfrac{17}{2}

Now use the point-slope form of linear equation:

\implies y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

\implies y-110=\dfrac{17}{2}(x-10)

\implies y=\dfrac{17}{2}x+25

Substitute x = 150 into the equation and solve for y:

\implies y=\dfrac{17}{2}(150)+25=1300

Therefore, the total cost of ordereing 150 mugs is $1300

In a class of 30 students, 19 are studying French (F), 12 are studying Spanish (S) and 7 are studying both French and Spanish. H
Fiesta28 [93]

Answer: There are 14 students not taking any foreign languages.

Step-by-step explanation: Take the total number of  students and subtract it by the number of students who are taking each class. So you would get 19 for French, 12 for Spanish, and 7 for both. Then you would add those numbers up and get a total of 38. You would then do the same except subtract each total of students by 30 to find how many of the 30 are not taking each class or both. You would then get 11 for French, 18 for Spanish, and 23 for both. Add those numbers up and get 52. Then you would subtract 38 from 52 thus giving the final answer 14.
