Calpurnia's cot shows how segregation is everywhere in Maycomb, including the Finch home.

We know that Aunt Alexandra has somewhere to sleep when she stays with them, suggesting that they have a spare bedroom. However, when Calpurnia stays with the Finches, she is not allowed to stay in the spare room.

In the maycomb society, blacks are treated differently than white people and Calpurnia must sleep on a cot instead of being given a bed.

Review the conflict from "The Glass of Milk." The boy turns down food offered to him by a sailor on the docks. How does this act
makvit [3.9K]

Answer:

A) It escalates the conflict by showing that, despite being very hungry, the boy's pride prevents him from accepting help.

Explanation:

A Glass of Milk is a story by an unknown author, which recounts the experience of a boy who is poor and hungry, yet he is ashamed of his situation and does not want to receive charity from others who offers him food. The sailor situation quote in the question refers to the beginning of the story, where the sailor offers the boy food, yet he declines it, saying he is not hungry despite the fact that he is. This exchange introduces the central conflict of the story.

kvasek [131]
While we wait for the sun to rise is a sentence fragment.

There is no ending that completes the sentence.

To finish, an example would be:
<em>While we wait for the sun to rise, we eat breakfast.
