National human rights institutionFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search

A National human rights institution (NHRI) is an independent institution bestowed with the responsibility to broadly protect, monitor and promote human rights in a given country. The growth of such bodies has been encouraged by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) which has provided advisory and support services, and facilitated access for NHRIs to the UN treaty bodies and other committees.[1] There are over 100 such institutions, about two-thirds assessed by peer review as compliant with the United Nations standards set out in the Paris Principles. Compliance with the Principles is the basis for accreditation at the UN, which, uniquely for NHRIs, is not conducted directly by a UN body but by a sub-committee of the International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions (ICC). The secretariat to the review process (for initial accreditation, and reaccreditation every five years) is provided by the National Institutions and Regional Mechanisms Section of the OHCHR.[

Verizon [17]

Answer:

The value of the test statistic is 0.24.

Explanation:

Test statistic (z) = (sample mean - population mean) ÷ (population sd/√n)

sample mean = 116.2

population mean = 115

population sd = 25

n = 25

z = (116.2 - 115) ÷ (25/√25) = 1.2 ÷ 5 = 0.24

You and your friend are having a conversation about science. Your friend says "science is no better than any other way of knowin
Black_prince [1.1K]

Answer:

The first thing to do here is to accept that what the friend is saying, about science not always being one hundred percet accurate, of having to be updated and knowledge relearned because of constant new discoveries that may make a previous belief true and absolute, but that later was refuted due to new evidence and research, is true. There will always be doubt associated with scientific knowledge.

However, there is one thing that makes science an accurate, and very reliable way of gaining certain knowledge; not all. When it comes to matters that can be seen, measured, touched, or easily monitored with the senses, science provides the best way to knowing these matters because it has a series of already proven steps that lead to accurate aswers and results. This series of steps is what we know as the scientific method. This scientific method ensures that the steps taken during scientific research can be proven, re-tested, re-evaluated and verified. In essence, science does not claim to be the absolute truth, but be a way to find answers that provide a sense of security that the answers found are as accurate as possible.

List three environmental cues and indicate how they influence your expectations for communication.
jeka57 [31]

Three environmental cues that can be listed are: territory, lighting and sound.

The ways the three of them affect the expectations for communication are:

When it comes to territory, being close to someone will mean that this individual is friends with me, or has a close relationship. If the person takes his/her distance, I expect to be having a more formal conversation, or to be interacting with someone whom I'm not close with.

Lighting affects my expectations for communication in a way that if the light is low, I'll be expecting to have a more intimate conversation, specially with someone whom I have a relationship with.

And last, sound, if I'm in a noisy place I won't expect to have a serious conversation, I'll be expecting to have a more casual talk. In a quiet environment I can expect to have a serious talk.
