Ok so you got -30+2r=4(4r-4)
You distribute and get -30+2r=16r-16
Then you subtract 16r on both sides to get -30-14r=-16, then you add 30 on both sides and get -14r=14 then divide both sides by -14 to get r by itself, so the answer is r=-1

Hey there!

First, you have to DISTRIBUTE

-30+2r =4(4r) + 4(-4)

4(4r)= 16r

4(-4) = -16

Your problem becomes: -30 + 2r = 16r +(-16)

A NEGATIVE and a POSITIVE becomes a NEGATIVE

So, this makes your problem become this ↓

2r - 30 = 16r - 16

Secondly, we have to SUBTRACT by 16r on YOUR SIDES2r-30-16r = 16r - 16 - 16r

We GET: (-14r) - 30 = -16

Thirdly, we have to ADD by 30 on EACH OF YOUR SIDES

-14r - 30 +30 = -16 + 30

-14r = 14

CANCEL OUT: -30 + 30 because it gives you a outcome of 0

KEEP: -16 + 30

Because it helps us solve for our ANSWER (almost!)

-16 + 30 = 14

Fourthly, we have to DIVIDE by -14 on each of YOUR SIDES

\frac{-14r}{-14}=\frac{14}{-14}

CANCEL OUT: \frac{-14r}{14} because it gives you a value of a +1

KEEP: \frac{14}{-14} because it gives you a result of -1

ANSWER: r = -1

Good luck on your assignment and enjoy your day!

~LoveYourselfFirst:)
