The speed from City A to City B is 506 miles per hour

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

A pilot flew a jet from City A to City B, a distance of 2300 miles

Distance for trip = 2300 miles

Distance for return trip = 2300 miles

The round-trip took 8 h 20 min

Total time taken for both trips = 8 hour 20 minutes

We know that,

1 hour = 60 minutes

20 \text{ minutes } = \frac{20}{60} \text{ hour } =\frac{1}{3} \text{ hour }

Thus, we get,

Total time taken for both trips = 8 + \frac{1}{3} = \frac{24+1}{3} = \frac{25}{3} \text{ hour }

On the return trip, the average speed was 20% faster than the outbound speed

Let "x" be the speed for out bound trip

Then, x + 20 % of x is the average speed of return trip

x + 20\% x = x + 0.2x = 1.2x

Speed for return trip = 1.2x

<em><u>Time taken is given by formula:</u></em>

\text{total time } = \frac{distance}{\text{speed of outbound trip}} + \frac{distance}{\text{speed of return trip}}

\frac{25}{3} = \frac{2300}{x} + \frac{2300}{1.2x}\\\\\frac{25x}{3} = \frac{2300 \times 1.2 + 2300}{1.2}\\\\10x = 5060\\\\x = 506

Thus speed from City A to City B is 506 miles per hour

Alex787 [66]

Answer:

cos(55) = 11/x

Step-by-step explanation:

We have the hypotenuse (x) and an angle adjacent to 55 (11). The only trigonometric formula that uses adjacent and hypotenuse is cosine (adjacent/hypotenuse), so that will be your answer.

seraphim [82]

From the equation y = 4x, each strawberry contains 4 calories.

<h3>What is an equation?</h3>

An equation is an expression that shows the relationship between two or more numbers and variables.

Let y represent the number of calories in x strawberries. Hence:

y - 0 = [(27 - 0)/(6.8 - 0)](x - 0)

y = 4x

From the equation y = 4x, each strawberry contains 4 calories.

THIS IS A QUESTION FOR WOLLFGIRL Write out 2-4 sentences about which advertisement would give you the "best deal"
ratelena [41]

Answer:

answers are highlighted below!   I hope this helps! please do not copy my work!   ^-^     :)

Step-by-step explanation:

okay, on the first one we are told we have 15% off of $729.99

which then takes off about $109.50

after we subtract the $109.50 from the $729.99 we are left with $620.49, that's not including tax

sales ax is 8.25% or $51.19      that comes out to equal $671.69

so we can conclude that the big tv sale at the big box store is equal to the amount of $671.69

on the second one, its normally $699.99

we have the coupon  for $100 off of that price so that leaves us with $599.99

but we have the $50 charge for delivery. so now its at $649.99

now we need to determine the price after tax. the price of tax is $53.62

add the tax amount to $649.99 to get $703.61

$703.61

the initial price of the tv is $734.95

$150 in rebate (refund)

$734.95 - $150 = $584.95

now we need to find the price including the delivery cost

$584.95 + $35 = $619.95

now lets find the tax price

$51.15

After Tax Price: $671.10

The TV from the Electronic Warehouse is the best option. You pay only $671.10!  The prices from the two other stores are $703.61 and $671.69.

We are paying .59 cents less than one of the TV's, and we are also paying $32.51 less than the other TV! So the best option would be the TV from the Big Box store!

. In the 2012 Olympics, Usain Bolt ran the 100m dash in 9.63 seconds. Jim Hines won the 1968 Olympic gold with a time of 9.95 se
Nimfa-mama [501]

Answer:

A. 3.2% faster

B. 3.3% slower

C. 103.3%

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to find this out, we need to take the differences and divide them by the comparative time. So, in the first one, we take the difference (.32) and divide it by Hines time.

.32/9.63 = 3.2%

In the second, we take the difference and divide by Bolt's time.

.32/9.95 = 3.3%

And finally, in the last one, we take Hines' time and divide by Bolt's.

9.95/9.63 = 103.3%
