Equation: \frac{13}{15} - \frac{1}{5}

When adding or subtracting, you have to make sure they have a common denominator

So you have to multiply \frac{1}{5} by \frac{3}{3}

\frac{1}{5} * \frac{3}{3} = \frac{3}{15}

Since they both have the same denominator, you subtract

\frac{13}{15} - \frac{3}{15} = \frac{10}{15}

One thing to note is when subtracting, you DO NOT subtract the denominator, only the numerators

To reduce to the lowest terms, you need to find a common factor.
5 goes into 10 two times and goes into 15 three times

10 ÷ 5=2

15 ÷ 5=3

That leaves it with the fraction \frac{2}{3}

A school bus during morning pickups to calculate its average speed between 2.8 km and 4.2 km.
kifflom [539]

<u>Answer: </u>

Option (c)

The average speed between 2.8 km and 4.2 km is 42 km/h

<u>Explanation:</u>

Given, the distance between 2.8 km and 4.2 km is 4.2 - 2.8 = 1.4 km

Time (in hours) between 2.8 km and 4.2 km

    = 0.084 – 0.051

     = 0.033 hr

Speed =\frac{Distance}{Time}

Speed = \frac{1.4}{0.033}

Speed = 42.4 km/hr = 42 km/h (rounded to nearest)

Therefore, the average speed between 2.8 km and 4.2 km is 42 km/hr

Hence, Option (C) is correct
