You could write about a group of wizards who made a pact among them never to sell the soul in search of too much power and never stand against each other. But one of these magicians had to acquire more power to resurrect his deceased bride, so he sold his soul to have more power and resurrected his bride and seeing that he could not, because all the power he had was not enough, this magician has a and begins to decimate the citizens of a village near the forest he lived in.
As this magician was causing a huge destruction in the village, the other magicians were discussing what to do to stop their insane friend. The magicians refuse to stop him because of the oath that was made between them, but one of these magicians decides to stop his friend, no matter what the consequences. Then he leaves the meeting, goes to the village and kills his friend who was destroying everything because of his failure to resurrect his bride.
As punishment for breaking the covenant, the other magicians decide that the surviving magician would spend the rest of his life in a dark cave, without his powers, alone and eating only the remnants of the wizards' table. And so it was done, the magicians left their friend in the cave, closed the entrance with tears in their eyes and none of them ever went there again.
