carmen rides her bicycle at a constant rate to the market. when she rides her bicycle back home along the same route, she bikes

at three-quarters the rate she biked to the market. at any given time, t, the distance biked can be calculated using the formula d = rt, where d represents distance and r represents rate. if the trip home takes 12 minutes longer than the trip to the market, how many minutes does it take carmen to bike home? 16 min 28 min 36 min 48 min

The answer is 28.
Check: 28-12= 16
1/4 of 16= 4
3/4 of 16= 12
so Carmen takes 3/4 more time of the trip to the market when she return s home.

Suppose that P (A)=0.4 AND P (B)=0.2, If events A & B ARE Mutually EXCLUSIVE :
baherus [9]

Part (a) Finding the probability of either A or B

We are told that events A and B are mutually exclusive. This means they cannot happen at the same time. We can say P(A and B) = 0

Furthermore,

P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A and B)

P(A or B) = 0.4 + 0.2 - 0

P(A or B) = 0.6

<h3>Answer:  0.6</h3>

=======================================================

Part (b) Finding the probability of neither A nor B

P(A or B) + P(neither A nor B) = 1

P(neither A nor B) = 1 - P(A or B)

P(neither A nor B) = 1 - 0.6

P(neither A nor B) = 0.4

The reason why this works is to imagine throwing a dart at the Venn diagram. You'll either...

  • you land in A or B (pick one but not both), OR,
  • you'll land outside both regions A and B.

One or the other must happen. Both events cannot happen simultaneously.

<h3>Answer: 0.4</h3>

Find the domain and range of the relation and determine whether it is a function.
Anna [14]
The correct answer to this question is this "domain: x > 1; range: y > 0; Yes, it is a function."

Based from the graph, <span>it has a vertical asymptote at x = 1, so domain is x > 1 </span><span>and since it has horizontal asymptote at y=0, its range is y > 0. So this concludes us to have a domain of x > 1 and a range of y > 0.</span>
