Global warming will heat up the earth, causing a rise in sea levels, terrible droughts and a overall change in climate all over.

Global cooling will cool the earth down causing things like the next ice age. Global cooling will preserve fossils.

Most times the earth heats up before a ice age and they play hand and hand with each other. Both events can cause an extinction of plants and animals.
