Answer: -3

Why?

It's asking for the product of a number (which is unknown, therefore it's "x") and 5 which has 12 added to it. Your equation would be: 5x + 12 = -3

And you subtract 12 from both sides (12 minus 12 is 0 which cancel it out and -3 minus 12 is -5) leaving you with 5x = -15, then you divide by 5 leaving you with X= -3 .

Let the number be x

Equation:

12 + 5x = -3

Answer: The equation is 12 + 5x = -3

Solve it:

5x = -3 - 12

5x = -15

x = -15 ÷ 5

x = -3

Answer: The number is -3.

Two perpendicular lines intersect on the -axis. The equation of one line is y- 4x-6=0. Determine the equation of the other line.
Kay [80]

Answer:

y = -\frac{1}{4}x + 6 or y = -\frac{1}{4}x - 0.375

Step-by-step explanation:

For 2 lines to be perpendicular, their slopes must be <u>negative reciprocals</u>. In order to find the perpendicular of y - 4x - 6 = 0:

SLOPE INTERCEPT FORM: y = 4x + 6

SLOPE OF LINE A: m=4

SLOPE OF LINE B (the one you are looking for): m=-\frac{1}{4}

Since I don't know if you meant that they intercept on the x or y axis I will do both.

<u>y-axis</u>

y-6=-\frac{1}{4}(x-0)

y = -\frac{1}{4}x+6

<u>x-axis</u>

y-0=-\frac{1}{4}(x-1.5)

y=-\frac{1}{4}x-0.375

Find the fifth term of an=3n-5
solong [7]
For the fifth term, n = 5.
Just replace n with 5 in the expression.
Then evaluate the expression.

a_n = 3n - 5

a_5 = 3(5) - 5 = 15 - 5 = 10
