Answer:

B Fear tormented and controlled Díaz until he no longer allowed it to

Explanation:

The text is from the autobiographical account of Junot Diaz where he tells the story of the intense fear he felt after a vicious beat down by kids on a rough neighborhood.

After that beating, he had an intense fear of the three boys and whenever he saw them coming, he would get away fast, and they would jeer and taunt him which would make him distraught and depressed for days until he decided to face his fear of the boys and the day he saw them, he did not run even if he wanted to. He could not approach them either, he stood still and faced them, and eventually they scowled at him and walked past.

Discuss the theme of individual conscience versus society and how it relates to the theme of freedom. Use evidence from the text
antiseptic1488 [7]
<span>Answer: Huck must examine his conscience throughout the story. Huck's own value system often comes in conflict with Southern white views on issues like racism and organized religion. Huck not only longs to free himself from the physical confines of his being but from the social confines of a very homogenous, and ignorant, status-quo, "I said I wouldn't, and I'll stick to it. Honest INJUN, I will. People would call me a low-down Abolitionist and despise me for keeping mum – but that don't make no difference. I ain't a-going to tell, and I ain't a-going back there, anyways. So, now, le's know all about it."</span>

Boy help a sister out
klasskru [66]

Answer:

C. Simile

Explanation:

The correct answer is <em>simile</em>.

Simile is a figure of speech that uses <em>"as"</em> and <em>"like" </em>to compare two things.  It is used in comparing one thing with another thing that is of a different kind.

This tries to compare "<em>when friends can't be found"</em> to "<em>a bridge over troubled water". </em>Simile differs from metaphor because it compares two things directly by highlighting the similarities between those two things using "like" or "as".<em> </em>Metaphors actually create an implicit comparison.
