The Brown v. Board of Education was a US Supreme Court decision that ruled that separating children in public schools on the basis of race was unconstitutional. Despite the decision, there was resistance and some legal obstacles to the desegregation were created in the Southern states, for example, Arkansas state called the state’s national guard to block black students entry. In Mississippi Medgar Evers - a black man who sued the state - was murdered by a member of the White Citizens Council member.
