Congress was constantly trying to find ways to "solve" the issue of slavery in American society. It first started with the Missouri Compromise. This established that the institution of slavery would not exist north of the 36'30 for any new states added during the era of westward expansion. However, this would not last forever as the adding of California after the Mexican-American War became a problem. This is because the 36'30 cut the state into two parts and the US did not want a half free half slave state.

This resulted in the creation of the Compromise of 1850. However, this law would not solve the issue of slavery. Rather, it just pushed the problem further down the road.

The rotating countries currently serving on the Security Council include China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, United States, United Arab Emirates, Ireland, Norway, India, and Mexico.

The current secretary general of United Nations is Antonio Guterres. He is from Portugal.

The instances where the Security Council has signed off on an issue and acted on it include the veto in December 2017 regarding the issue in the Middle East and in 2019 which was regarding the situation in Venezuela.

A case that was gone before the International Court of Justice was Corfu Channel vs Albania. It was a case regarding state responsibility for damages at sea and the doctrine of the innocent passage.

A thing that the Economic and Social Council is currently working on is to find solutions to international economic, health, and social related problems.
