What is the equation of the circle with center (4, 4) that passes through the point (10, 14)?
Katarina [22]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

You use the given information in the standard form of a circle equation to solve for r. We have (h, k) which is the center and a point (x, y). The standard equation for a circle is

(x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2

Filling in:

(10-4)^2+(14-4)^2=r^2 and

6^2+10^2=r^2 and

r^2=136

Now that we used the coordinate we don't need it anymore. x and y go back into the equation as x and y, not numbers. We do, however, need the center. Writing the equation:

(x-4)^2+(y-4)^2=136 which is choice D.

Find the sum of the first 9 terms in the following geometric series. 64+32+16+
Dafna11 [192]

Answer:

The sum of the first 9 terms in the geometric series is 127.75

Step-by-step explanation:

In the geometric series, there is a constant ratio between each two consecutive numbers

Examples:

5, 10, 20, 40, 80, ………………………. (×2)

5000, 1000, 200, 40, …………………………(÷5)

General term (nth term) of a Geometric series is

a1 = a, a2 = ar, a3 = ar², a4 = ar³, ..........

an=ar^{n-1}, where

a is the first term

r is the constant ratio between each two consecutive terms

The sum of the first n terms of a Geometric series is calculated by this rule

Sn=\frac{a(1-r^{n})}{1-r}

Let us solve the question

∵ The geometric series is 64, 32, 16, .......................

∴ a = 64

∴ r = 32 ÷ 64 = 0.5

→ We need to find the sum of the first 9 terms

∴ n = 9

→ Substitute these values on the formula of the sum above

∴ S9=\frac{64(1-0.5^{9})}{1-0.5}

→ use the calculator to find the answer

∴ S9 = 127.75

∴ The sum of the first 9 terms in the geometric series is 127.75

Answer:

Option 2, (y = 4/6x - 4)

Step-by-step explanation:

Knowing that m acts as the slope in general, we can conclude that part of the equation is as such:

y = 4/6x

Now we are given coordinate (0, - 4) so that here x = 0 and y = - 4. Let's substitute these values into the prior equation:

y = 4/6x

-4 = 4/6(0)

-4 = 0

Now in order for y (-4) to be equal to the opposite side of the equation you would have to add -4:

-4 = 0 - 4

-4 = -4

That would mean the equation represents:

y = 4/6x - 4
