2x + 5 = 15 - (-49) x 5
combine like terms

2x + 5 = 320
subtract 5 from each side

2x = 315
divide by 2 on each side

x = 157.5

So, you do -49 * 5 first because multiplication is before addition, which is -245.
15 - (-245) turns into addition, so the right side of the equation is 260.

Move the 5 over. 260-5 = 255

2x = 255, so x =255/2 or 127.5

Melanie eats 1.5 pounds of cereal each week. Which model below best represents the number of pounds of cereal she eats in .5 wee
Katena32 [7]
For this case, the first thing we must do is define a variable.
We have then:
x: number of weeks
y: amount of cereal that Melanie eats
We now write the function that models the problem:
y = 1.5x

Then, for 5 weeks we have:
y = 1.5 (5)

y = 7.5 pounds
Answer:

A model that best represents the number of pounds of cereal she eats is:

y = 1.5x

For 5 weeks we have:

y = 7.5 pounds

Please help me with this question
oksano4ka [1.4K]

Answer: 5, 3, \dfrac{1}{6}, D

Step-by-step explanation:

-5 < 0 so f(-5) = | -5 | = 5

-3 < 0 so f(-3) = | -3 | = 3

6 > 0 so f(6) = \dfrac{1}{6}

graph D (since x can equal zero)

Solve the system of equations by graphing.
{y=x-6
{y=3x-8

Show work please
Zepler [3.9K]
You should subtract left sides and right sides in order to make y disappeared
and you will have the following:

y - y = (x - 6) - (3x - 8)    =>     0 = x - 6 - 3x - 8     =>     0 = -2x - 14    =>

2x = -14    =>    x = -14/2 = -7

Now you can use -7 in the system and you will get y
y = -7 - 6 = -13

So your answers will be:
x=-7 and y=-13

Find the equation of this line... please help.
Oksi-84 [34.3K]
Count down until you reach the line the point is on and count to lines until you reach the point
In this case down 2 and right 4
So your slope is negative
And the line crosses the y-axis at 1 so you intercept is 1
-2/4x+1 would be correct but it is not simplified
-1/2x+1 is the correct answer because the equation is simplified
