<span>During World War II, the US Navy needed to train large numbers of new troops. This was accomplished partially through the use of training films. As the Navy did not have a sufficient capability to produce large amounts of film on its own, it employed commercial studios to manufacture them. Disney was contracted to create many of these training films.</span>
