1) 8 is a relatively small proportion of 24, so the length of the unknown side of each right triangle will be only a little less than 24. The value of x is double this. The only answer choice that makes sense is ...
 45.25

2) The geometric mean is the square root of the product.
 =√(9*16) = 3*4 = 12

3) The value of x must be between 9 and about 1.4 times 9, so the only answer that makes sense is
 11.40

If you work through the math of the Pythagorean theorem, this choice is confirmed. x = √(9²+7²) = √130 ≈ 11.401754...

4) As with problem 3, the answer must lie between 5 and about 1.4*5 = 7. The only choice that makes sense is
 5.83

Once again, if you work through the math, x = √(5²+3²) = √34 ≈ 5.83095189...

_____
If you remember that the hypotenuse of an isosceles right triangle is √2 ≈ 1.4 times the length of one side, you can often bound the possible answers to right triangle problems without doing much work at all. If the ratio of side lengths is smaller than 1:1, the length of the hypotenuse gets closer to the length of the longest leg.

10. Write in slope-intercept form:
-3x + 4y = 12
Anastasy [175]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Write in slope-intercept form:

-3x + 4y = 12 is

Slope = 1.500/2.000 = 0.750

x-intercept = 12/-3 = 4/-1 = -4.00000

y-intercept = 12/4 = 3

You are conducting a study to see if the proportion of voters who prefer Candidate A is significantly different from 0.36. With
Dafna11 [192]

Answer:

We need to conduct a hypothesis in order to test the claim that the true proportion is 0.36 so then we need to conduct a two tailed test, the system of hypothesis are.:

Null hypothesis:p=0.36

Alternative hypothesis:p \neq 0.36

Since is a bilateral test the p value would be:

p_v =2*P(z>2.074)=0.0381

Step-by-step explanation:

Data given and notation n

n represent the random sample taken

\hat p estimated proportion of interest

p_o=0.36 is the value that we want to test

z would represent the statistic (variable of interest)

p_v represent the p value (variable of interest)

Concepts and formulas to use

We need to conduct a hypothesis in order to test the claim that the true proportion is 0.36 so then we need to conduct a two tailed test, the system of hypothesis are.:

Null hypothesis:p=0.36

Alternative hypothesis:p \neq 0.36

When we conduct a proportion test we need to use the z statisitc, and the is given by:

z=\frac{\hat p -p_o}{\sqrt{\frac{p_o (1-p_o)}{n}}} (1)

The One-Sample Proportion Test is used to assess whether a population proportion is significantly different from a hypothesized value .

Calculate the statistic

For this case the statistic is given:

z = 2.074

Statistical decision

It's important to refresh the p value method or p value approach . "This method is about determining "likely" or "unlikely" by determining the probability assuming the null hypothesis were true of observing a more extreme test statistic in the direction of the alternative hypothesis than the one observed". Or in other words is just a method to have an statistical decision to fail to reject or reject the null hypothesis.

The next step would be calculate the p value for this test.

Since is a bilateral test the p value would be:

p_v =2*P(z>2.074)=0.0381

How do I do this?
Please help
riadik2000 [5.3K]

Answer :

In the given quadrilateral ABCD ,

 • Angle BCA = 18°
 • Angle ACD = 62°

Angle BCA = Angle CAD ( alternate interior angle )

Now in triangle CAD ,

We have two angles so by using angle sum property we can find the required third one ,

 • Angle CAD + Angle ACD + Angle ADC = 180°
 • 18 + 62 + Angle ADC = 180
 • 80 + Angle ADC = 180
 • Angle ADC = 180 - 80
 • Angle ADC = 100
