Take a look at this part of the excerpt:

<em> . . .for kings are not only God's lieutenants upon earth and sit upon God's throne. . .</em>

From this line, we can infer that James see king as some one that given a direct authority from God to rule on his behalf. He wanted to showcase the difference in status between Kings and common people so he can justify the misbehavior that conducted by the Kings.

The expansion allowed them to have allies worldwide who traded with the states and this enabled them to accumulate wealth. World War 1 was the cherry on top because it ruined the entire economy of Europe as well as European infrastructure, while US was free to produce and export since it had no economic rivalry with anyone.
