From the right triangle that can be formed from the top of the lighthouse, to the boat, we can see that the the height of the lighthouse is the opposite side of the angle of elevation. The distance, d, is therefore calculated through the equation,
                             tan 15° = d / 220 ft
The value of d is equal to 58.95 ft.

PLEASE HELP ASAP PLEASE
Burka [1]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The k is indicative of movement either up or down, while h is indicative of movement that is either right or left. The blue graph moves both to the right and down to get to the position of the red graph. On the blue graph, locate the point (0, 1). That point moves from a y-location of 1 to a y-location of -2, meaning that it moves down 3 units; therefore, the value of k is -3.

A school district has 2 teaching positions to fill and there are 8 applicants to choose from. How many different possibilities a
Olenka [21]

I think the answer would be 56. Bc the first job has 8 different people who could get the job and then once someone is chosen for that slot the next teaching position only has 7 candidates. So you would take 8*7 which equals 56.

E^(8x)+e^(-x) find the interval on which f is increasing
saveliy_v [14]
Assuming ya mean
f(x)=e^{8x}+e^{-x}
take derivitive
remember dy/dx e^x=e^x
also the chain rule

so
f'(x)=8e^{8x}+-1e^{-x}
find where it equals 0
0=8e^{8x}+-e^{-x}
e^{-x}=8e^{8x}
multiply both sides by e^x
1=8e^{9x}
divide both sides by 8
\frac{1}{8}=e^{9x}
take ln of both sides
ln(\frac{1}{8})=ln(e^{9x})
ln(\frac{1}{8})=9x
divide both sides by 9
\frac{ln(\frac{1}{8})}{9}=x

x≈-1/5
f'(-1)<0
f'(0)>0

so it is increasing from x to infinity

the interval it is increasing on is (\frac{ln(\frac{1}{8})}{9}, \infty)

Which statements are true about the ordered pair (-1,-4) and the system of equations? x-y=3 and 7x-y=-3
alexandr402 [8]

Answer:

when (-1, -4) is substituted into the first equation it's true

when (-1, -4) is substituted into the second equation it's true

the ordered pair (-1, -4) is a solution to the systems of equation

Step-by-step explanation:

original equation

x-y=3

multiply both sides by 7

7x-7y = 21

add 7y to both sides

7x=7y + 21

substitute into second equation

(7y+21)-y=-3

simplify

6y+21=-3

subtract 21 from both sides

6y=-24

y=-4

substitute y into original equation

x-(-4) = 3

cancel out negative signs

x+4=3

subtract -4 from both sides

x=-1
