Dr. stevens is examining the dna sequences of a group of mice. he notices that in one of the mice, one nucleotide pair is substi

tuted with another in the part of the dna sequence that codes for fur color. however, despite the substitution, the mouse still has the same fur color as the other mice with the correct dna sequence.why doesn't the substitution of nucleotides in the mouse change its phenotype, or physical characteristics?

Out of the following given choices;

A. The mouse has a completely different DNA sequence than the other mice.

B. The substituted nucleotide has the same directions as the original nucleotide.

C. Substitutions in the nucleotides of a mouse's DNA never affect their phenotypes.

D. DNA sequences don't determine the color of a mouse's fur.

The answer is B. Most probably, the nucleotide substitution did not translate to a change in the amino acid sequence in the translated protein. As you may be aware, most amino acids are coded by more than one codon. For example, Leucine is coded for by CTT, CTC, CTA, CTG, TTA, TTG. Therefore, a substitution, that causes a change to either one of the sequences will not change the amino acid.

The star in the diagram represents which of these? A. origin of replication B. replication fork C. replication bubble D. Okazaki
Alex777 [14]

Given what we know about the process of DNA replication, we can confirm that the star shown in the diagram represents the replication fork.

During the replication of DNA in the cellular process of multiplication, a structure known as the replication fork is formed. This fork is a structure that forms by helicases, which tear the hydrogen bonds that hold together two DNA strands in the form of a double helix.

The resulting structure contains two prongs, which are branches of the original DNA strand which are no longer doble or in the form of a helix. This area where the strands are separating into prongs is the replication fork which is being marked in the diagram by the star.

Compare and contrast the roles of a psychologist with a psychiatrist.
andriy [413]
A psychologist would typically deal with the emotion problems of a person who don't suffer from serious disorders. A psychiatrist is a medical practitioner specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of someone who has a mental illness. They both help out when someone is desperately in need of it

What are the conditions to cause water to diffuse out of a cell
snow_tiger [21]
Diffusion happens when there is a difference in concentration. So for water to diffuse out of the cell, the concentration of water has to be lower outside the cell, than inside the cell.

what are structures without a present-day function called? a. homologous c. vestigial b. analogous d. extinct
Lesechka [4]
C. Vestigial.

A vestigial structure example in out bodies is the Appendix. We don't really need it, it just kind of "hangs out" in our bodies. We evolved to not need it.

I hope this helped! Let me know if it did not!
I hope you have a fantastical day!!!XD
