One of the largest empires ever existed. The Safavid Empire existed in Persia, what today is Iran, in the 1500s and 1600s. The Mughal Empire encompassed the Indus basin territory, parts of Afghanistan, India, and Bangladesh. It started approximately in the 1520s.
