llowed amount is 7/ 8 of what the doctors office charges. Of that allowed amount they will pay 3 /4 and Ross will be out of pocket 1 /4 . If Ross had to pay $262.50, how much did the office want to charge for the procedure?

Answer:

\large \boxed{\$1200.00}

Step-by-step explanation:

              Let the office charge  = x

     Amount paid by Medicare = ⅞x

Amount paid by Ross = ¼(⅞x) = $262.50

Solve for x

\begin{array}{rcrl}\dfrac{1}{4} \left(\dfrac{7}{8}x \right ) & = & \$262.50 & \\\dfrac{7}{32}x & = & \$262.50 & \text{Multiplied the fractions}\\\\7x & = & \$8400.00 & \text{Multiplied each side by 32}\\x & = & \mathbf{\$1200.00} & \text{Divided each side by 7}\\\end{array}\\\text{The office wanted to charge } \large \boxed{\mathbf{\$1200.00}}

Check:

\begin{array}{rcl}\dfrac{1}{4} \left(\dfrac{7}{8}\times \$1200.00 \right ) & = & \$262.50\\\\\dfrac{1}{4} \left(\$1050.00 \right ) & = & \$262.50\\\\\$262.50 & = & \$262.50\\\end{array}

OK.

Please help me, I’m struggling!
Leno4ka [110]

Answer:

Multiply the numbers until you get the same denominator (Bottom number) for both fractions. I will do #1 to show you.

1/3    1/2

Both 3 and 2 go into 6, so I will use that.

When multiplying the bottom , you have to do the same to the top, so...

2/6  OR  3/6

3/6 is greater, so that is the answer.

Therefore, 1/2 is more

Another way you can do this is to draw a pizza, a section off parts of it according to the fractions.

Hope this helped.

Solve the following system using the substitution, elimination, or graphing method for the x coordinate:
igomit [66]
Hey there!

To solve this system of equations, you will need to get one of the terms in both equations to cancel out to zero. If there isn't a term that you can cancel out, you can multiply either or both equations to make that term. There's no wrong way to do this, just as long as you make sure that you double check whether your should add or subtract. This is easier shown than explained, so refer below:

<span>  x + y = +1
5x + y = –6

</span>–1(x + y = +1)
   5x + y = –6

–x – y = –1
5x + y = –6

You can see that once we combine these equations by adding, the y term will become 0, eliminating it. This is necessary for solving the system, so make sure you do it. Also, remember to distribute the term that you need to to all of the numbers in the equation! After that, just solve for the variable that's still in the equation.

   –x – y = –1
+ 5x + y = –6

4x + 0y = –7
4x = –7
x = –1.75

Now, just plug the value we found for x into either one of your equations in the original system as it's presented in your problem.

x + y = 1
–1.75 + y = 1
+1.75        +1.75

y = 2.75

All that's left to do is check your point (–1.75, 2.75). If it's true for both equations, your answer is correct!

–1.75 + 2.75 = 1
<span>5(–1.75) + 2.75 = –6

</span>(–1.75, 2.75) is the solution to your system.

Hope this helped you out! :-)

A man starts at a point A and walks 18 feet north. He then turns and walks due east at 18 feet per second. If a searchlight plac
34kurt

Answer:

1/10 per sec

Step-by-step explanation:

When he's walked x feet in the eastward direction, the angle Θ that the search light makes has tangent

tanΘ = x/18

Taking the derivative with respect to time

sec²Θ dΘ/dt = 1/18 dx/dt.

He's walking at a rate of 18 ft/sec, so dx/dt = 18.

After 3seconds,

Speed = distance/time

18ft/sec =distance/3secs

x = 18 ft/sec (3 sec)

= 54ft. At this moment

tanΘ = 54/18

= 3

sec²Θ = 1 + tan²Θ

1 + 3² = 1+9

= 10

So at this moment

10 dΘ/dt = (1/18ft) 18 ft/sec = 1

10dΘ/dt = 1

dΘ/dt = 1/10 per sec
