The ratio between earths actual diameter and it’s scaled diameter can be used to find the scaled diameter of the other planets.

Earths diameter of 12,756 kilometers is scaled to 3.5 centimeters as shown in the table. Now let’s find the scaled diameter of Mars as an example. Using the calculations shown, Mars diameter of 6,792 would be scaled to 1.9 centimeters. Use this same process to complete the table with the scaled diameters of the other planets. Round each answer to the tenths place.

Following with the extra hint that x = 82.03 m

There are 2 ways to approach the question, but although I prefer to group up x first before plugging value, having that -0.05x^2 to group up is too annoying:

Plug x = 82.03

=> Y = -0.05*(82.03^2) + 4.5*82.03 - 6.5
         = -336.446045 + 369.135 - 6.5
         = 26.188955 m

Please take the time and understand the answer instead of just looking at the final result.

Also I know the number is very long, but that's the question's fault. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A surfboard is on sale for 60% off the sale price is $199.00. What was the original price of the surfboard before the sale?
Ivahew [28]

If the sale is of 60% it means that it is being sold for:

100 - 60 = 40%

Now use the rule of three to find the answer:

40 - 199

100- x

(100 * 199) / 40 = x

19900 / 40 = x

497,5 = x

Answer:

\boxed{\bf~The~original~price~is~497,5~dollars.}

Hope it helped,

Happy homework/ study/ exam!
