You multiply 5 * 2 1/3=

2 1/3= 7/3*5= 35/3 which is 11 2/3

so 11 2/3 is your answer

If 1 batch contains 2 1/3 quarts of water and there are 5 batches, to find the right answer you should multiply the quarter of water by the batches which gives 2 1/3*5 = 11 2/3 and in decimals it is 11.66.
Hope it helps

AnnyKZ [126]

Answer:

Given that A cereal manufacturer decides to offer a new family-sized box based on the regular-sized box. They want the volume of the family-sized box to be three times the volume of the regular-sized box. However, they want the length of the family-sized box to be the same as the regular-sized box.

If original dimensions are l,w and h then volume = lwh

Volume of new box is= 3lwh

But here w becomes 2w and l remains the same.  Let h' be the new height

Then we have

So by 1.5 factor height should be dilated.

The sum of the reciprocals of two consecutive integers is startfraction 11 over 30 endfraction 11 30. find the two integers.
frosja888 [35]
\dfrac{1}{n}+\dfrac{1}{n+1}=\dfrac{11}{30}\\
30n+30(n+1)=11n(n+1)\\
30n+30n+30=11n^2+11n\\
11n^2-49n-30=0\\
11n^2-55n+6n-30=0\\
11n(n-5)+6(n-5)=0\\
(11n+6)(n-5)=0\\
n=-\dfrac{6}{11} \vee n=5\\\\n=5,n+1=6

It's 5 and 6.

Phil's shadow is half as long as Phil is tall. If he were 4 inches taller and his shadow were 3 inches
insens350 [35]

Answer:

Phil is 16 inches tall and his shadow is 8 inches tall

Step-by-step explanation:

this is an algebra word problem.

1. <em> Find the unknown and label it x.</em>

Let Phil's shadow be x inches.

2. <em>find other unknown quantities and define them with</em>

Phil's height= 2x (phil is shadow is half as long as Phil is tall)

3. <em>FInd the equation</em>

if he was 4 inches taller (2x+4)

and his shadow was three inches shorter (x-3)

his height ( 2x+4) times the shadow's height (x-3) would be 100 square inches.

(2x+4) ×(x-3)=100

(2x+4)(x-3)=100

this is a quadratic equation and there are a number of ways to solve these. the two main ways are

1. quadratic equation

2. expanding and factorising

3. graphing

we will use 2. expanding and factorising for this problem. We need to make the right hand side = 0 by first factorising then rearranging.

(2x*x)+(2x*-3)+(x*4) +(4*-3)=100

2x^2 -6x+4x-3x-12=100

2x^2 -2x=112

2x^2 -2x-112=0

once factorised take out the common factor of 2

2(x^2-x-56)=0

now factorise what's in the brackets ( two numbers multiply to make 56 but add to make -1.

2(x-8)(x+7)=0

x-8=0 =>   x=8

x+7=0        x=-7 not possible

the shadow is 8 inces long. Phil is 16 inches tall.

Hope this is of help :)
