Flura [38]
The reason is to help in seed dispersal. Seed dispersal is the movement or transport of seeds away from the parent plant. Due to the fact that plants have very limited mobility they have to rely upon variety of dispersal; vectors to transport their seeds, including both abiotic and biotic factors. Seed dispersal is important because if seed are not dispersed, many germinating seedlings will grow very close to the parent plant which would result to competition between every one of the seedlings as well as the parent. The competition for essential growth factors such as light, space, water and nutrients.

What percentage of the energy stored in glucose do humans recover by cellular respiration?
Nady [450]
  • Energy is generated by glyolysis and aerobic respiration which contributes to approximately 252kcal. This is only 37% of total energy of glucose i.e 686kcal/mol.
  • According to the second law of thermodynamics all of the energy cannot  be converted into work done i.e most of the energy is lost in the form of heat.
  • So, there 63% of the energy present in glucose is lost in the form of heat and 37% of the total energy is used for cellular respiration

andre [41]
Cells are always known to be the building blocks of life or the basic unit of life. It constitutes cytoplasm inside a membrane with which comprise biomolecules like nucleic acids and proteins. A cell has 3 major functions. One of these functions is to transport molecules. Since cell membrane acts as barriers to molecules, it should transport the molecules it needs. This transport can either be passive or active. Another cell function is to reproduce. Cell hast to reproduce to replace those that die. The last function is to convert energy. Through cellular respiration, cells produce energy.  The absolute source of energy of all living organisms is the adenosine triphosphate or ATP.
