-59 = -(b − -55)

Pretend that there is a -1 in front of the bracket.

-59= -1(b--55)

Multiply the bracket by -1

-59= -1(b)-1(--55)

-59= -b-55

Move -55 to the other side. Sign changes from -55 to 55

-59+55= -b-55+55

-59+55= -b

-4= -b

Multiply by -1

-4(-1)= -b(-1)

4= b

Answer: b= 4

The Nelsons own a home whose market value is $132,000. Their municipality taxes at 70% and the rate is 80 mills or $80 per thous
MrRa [10]
To answer this question you will need to calculate what 70% of the value of the house is because this is what the tax is based on.

0.7 x $132000 = $92400 tax basis

They pay $80 per $1000 in tax basis, so $92400 would be 92.4 groups of $1000.

$80 x 92.4 = $7424 in taxes based on an 80 mills tax rate.

What is the inverse of y=pi/2+sin x
Alekssandra [29.7K]

Answer:

f^{-1}(x)=\sin ^{-1}(x-\frac{\pi}{2})

Step-by-step explanation:

The given function is

y=\frac{\pi}{2}+\sin x

To find the inverse of this function, we interchange x and y.

x=\frac{\pi}{2}+\sin y

we now solve for y.

x-\frac{\pi}{2}=\sin y

Take the sine inverse of both sides to obtain;

\sin ^{-1}(x-\frac{\pi}{2})=y

Hence the inverse of the given function is;

f^{-1}(x)=\sin ^{-1}(x-\frac{\pi}{2})

where \frac{\pi}{2}-1\le x\le \frac{\pi}{2}+1

Are the following figures similar? Rectangles ABCD and EFGH are shown. AB equals 5. BC equals 25. EF equals 3. FG equals 15. Yes
Tatiana [17]

Answer:

Yes; the corresponding sides are proportional

Step-by-step explanation:

If two figures are similar, the lengths of their sides are proportional.  This means if we set up a proportion with the sides we are given and cross-multiply, we get a true statement at the end of it.

Using the similarity statement ABCD~EFGH, we will compare AB to EF and BC to FG:

5/3 = 25/15

Cross multiply:

5(15) = 3(25)

75 = 75

We got a true statement, so the sides are proportional.
