So we wan't to see how to determine what is the next number in the number sequence. First we have to fint the pattern: 16-4=12, 36-16=20, 64-36=28, 100-64=36, 144-100=44. We see that in the pattern the next number is incremented by 8. So the next number should be 44+8=52 and we add that to the last number of the sequence: 144+52=196 and that is the next number in the sequence.

The length of each edge of a cube is x centimeters. If x is an integer, why is the volume of the cube not equal to 15m^3?
Nadusha1986 [10]

Suppose the length of each side of the cube is x, so the volume must be:

x^3.

If the volume is 15 cm^3, so the length must be cuberoot(15) which is not integer,. So, the volume of the cube with integer side never equal with 15 cm^3

How many solutions does this system have?
Julli [10]

Answer:

one solution

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets start to solve the question

- The 1st equation x - y = -4

- The 2nd equation 3x + y = 8

- We will use the elimination method to solve this system of equation

∵ x - y = -4 ⇒ (1)

∵ 3x + y = 8 ⇒ (2)

- Add the two equation (1) and (2) to eliminate y

∴ x + 3x = -4 + 8

∴ 4x = 4

- Divide both sides by 4

∴ x = 1

- Substitute the value of x in equation (1) or equation (2) to find

  the value of y

- We will use equation (1)

∴ 1 - y = -4

Subtract 1 from both sides

∴ -y = -5

- Divide both sides by -1

∴ y = 5

∴ The solution is (1 , 5)

* The system has one solution

Consider the equation of a circle x^2-2x+y^2-4y-4=0. If the line 2x-y+a=0 is its diameter. Then find the value of a.
Oduvanchick [21]

Answer:

a=0

Step-by-step explanation:

x²-2x+y²-4y-4=0

(x²-2x+1)+(y²-4y+4)-9=0

(x-1)² + (y-2)² = 3²

Center: (1,2) radius: 3

(1,2) on line 2x-y+a=0

2*1 - 2 + a = 0

a = 0
