Given that,

When the Mario kept the humming feeder on Friday it had $\frac{3}{4}$ cup of sugar water

When he sees on Monday, it had only $\frac{1}{8}$ of sugar water

So, this means the water is consumed by the humming bird will be the difference of the two values:-

$\text { Sugar water consumed }=\frac{3}{4}-\frac{1}{8}$

On solving we get,

$=\frac{3}{4}-\frac{1}{8}=\frac{24-4}{32}=\frac{20}{32}$

$=\frac{5}{8}$

Hence, the amount of sugar water consumed is $\frac{5}{8}$ of total sugar at the starting
