The first Global Age, also known as 'the Exploration Age', was the period between Columbus discovery of the New World (1492) and the American Revolution (1770s). During this time, globalization transformed the whole world when the Commercial Revolution took place. Commercial Revolution was the European expansion of the trading business that connected and also transformed Asian, American and African nations through political, financial, cultural and economic exchanges.
Central America (also referred to as Mesoamerica) and the Caribbeans did not had any contact with Eurasians and Africans because they were not connected by land with those continents, but instead separated by vast ocean waters, and the people from both sides were not even aware of the existence of the others.
Because of the isolation, the people from Central America and the Caribbeans managed to develop their own unique cultures, traditions, religions, way of living, architecture, organization, that were unlike any others in the rest of the world.
My guess would be that he wanted to make an impact on how the accuser treated people. If that makes sense.
