The length of XS is 9.

We can get this because of the definition of a bisector. A bisector is something that cuts something else into two equal parts. So, if the something is 18 units long, then half of it would be 9 units. That's exactly what's happening in this problem, so that means that XS, like in our example problem, will be 9.

<u>Given</u>:

The given graph represents the cost of the Kayak's rental per hour.

The coordinates are (2,30) and (3,45)

We need to determine the unit rate of renting per hour.

<u>Unit rate of renting:</u>

The unit rate of renting can be determined using the formula,

m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Substituting the coordinates (2,30) and (3,45), we get;

m=\frac{45-30}{3-2}

Simplifying, we get;

m=\frac{15}{1}

Dividing, we get;

m=15

Thus, the unit rate for renting a Kayak is $15 per hour.

Can the sum of two mixed numbers be equal to 2? Explain why or why not.
Vesna [10]

-- A "mixed number" is (a whole number) plus (a fraction).

-- Two mixed numbers = (two whole numbers) and (two fractions).

-- The smallest whole number is ' 1', so when you add up all of that,
the smallest possible sum is      (2) plus (two fractions).

-- So the sum must always be greater than  2 .

============================================

<em>THAT'S IF BOTH MIXED NUMBERS ARE POSITIVE </em>.

<em>If one of them is negative</em>, then it's easy to do:

(3 and 1/2) + negative (1 and 1/2) = <u>2</u>

(25 and 7/10) + negative (23 and 7/10) = <u>2</u>

Answer:

4th option

Step-by-step explanation:

L = larger softball and S = smaller softball ,then

L + S = 80 → (1) ← equation based on number of softballs ordered

2.75L + 3.25S = 245 → (2) ← equation based on cost

subtract S from both sides in (1)

L = 80 - S → (3)

substitute L = 80 - S into (2)

2.75(80 - S) + 3.25S = 245 ← distribute parenthesis and simplify left side

220 - 2.75S + 3.25S = 245

220 + 0.5S = 245 ( subtract 220 from both sides )

0.5S = 25 ( divide both sides by 0.5 )

S = 50

substitute S = 50 into (3)

L = 80 - 50 = 30

50 small softballs and 30 large softballs were ordered
