Daniel Defoe in his popular novel “Robinson Crusoe” mentioned about a loyal and faithful servant character named Friday. Friday is an ideal example of a servant and a friend as well. A Caribbean habitat Friday was rescued and sheltered by Robinson Crusoe. In the novel he was a selfless servant who served his master despite of his mistreatment towards him.

Friday has an important role in the cultural and political situation of that time. He was oppressed but still never failed in his duties towards his master. According to Defoe, this quality of selflessness in a servant is the most important attribute.
