This is because the end product of carbohydrate is glucose, and if too much of carbohydrate is taken , it will result to the accumulation of glucose in their body. This is because they lack or have little amount of insulin in their body which is responsible for controlling or regulating the amount of glucose in the body.

In this sense, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) used to recommend that people with diabetes get around 45% of their calories from carbs.

Also, patients with type 2 diabetes generally are put on a 1,500 to 1,800 calorie diet per day to promote weight loss and then the maintenance of ideal body weight. However, this may vary depending on the person's age, sex, activity level, current weight, and body style
