Martin Luther King became inspired by Henry David Thoreau 's principles. Whenever the United States waged war on Mexico, Henry David Thoreau also viewed it as a form of enslavement to Mexico. He objected highly against releasing his bills.
He publicly denounced and opposed the US occupation of Mexico. He was arrested and gaoled for this. His experience in prison inspired him to compose his famous dissertation on peaceful protesting. He wrote that if the government does wrong things like attack Mexico, then regular people will demonstrate against that kind of policy by not taking their money.
