1. In the spring of 2017, the Consumer Reports National Research Center conducted a survey of 1007 adults to learn about their m
avanturin [10]

Answer:

The correct answer is "1668". A further solution is provided below.

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the question,

Estimated proportion,

\hat{p} = \frac{574}{1007}

  =0.57

Margin of error,

E = 0.02

Level of confidence,

= 90%

= 0.90

Critical value,

Z_{0.10}=1.65

Now,

⇒  0.02=1.65\times \sqrt{\frac{0.57\times 0.43}{n} }

 0.0004=2.7225\times \frac{0.2451}{n}

         n=\frac{2.7225\times 0.2451}{0.0004}

             =1668.21

or,

         n \simeq 1668

The width of a rectangle is 2 meters less than its length, and the perimeter is 32 meters. Find the length and width of the rect
cupoosta [38]
The perimeter is equal to 2(width) + 2(length). let's call the width w and the length L.

so 32 = 2w + 2L
the width is given as 2 meters less than the length, so w = L - 2

32 = 2(L - 2) + 2L
32 = 2L - 4 + 2L
32 = 4L - 4
36 = 4L
9 = L

so our length is 9 meters.

w = L - 2
w = 9 - 2
w = 7

so our width is 7 meters.

Convert 38degrees F to degrees celsius. If necessary, round your answer to the nearest tenth of a degree. Here are the formulas.
vekshin1
F=38 \\ \\C= \frac{5}{9} (F-32)=\frac{5}{9} (38-32)=\frac{5}{9}\times6= \frac{30}{9} \approx 3.33

Find the distance points p (3,6) and q (7,3) to the nearest tenth?
Vladimir79 [104]
<h3>Answer: 5</h3>

=========================================================

One method is to plot the points P(3,6) and Q(7,3) on the same xy grid.  Plot a third point R at (3,3). See the diagram below.

A right triangle forms in which we can find the legs PR = 3 and RQ = 4. The hypotenuse is found through the pythagorean theorem.

a^2+b^2=c^2

3^2+4^2 = c^2

9+16 = c^2

c^2 = 25

c = sqrt(25)

c = 5

This is the length of PQ

-----------------------------------

Or you can use the distance formula which is effectively using the pythagorean theorem just in a slightly different format (though it may not be obvious).

d = \text{Distance from P to Q}\\\\d = \sqrt{(x_1-x_2)^2+(y_1-y_2)^2}\\\\d = \sqrt{(3-7)^2+(6-3)^2}\\\\d = \sqrt{(-4)^2+(3)^2}\\\\d = \sqrt{16+9}\\\\d = \sqrt{25}\\\\d = 5\\\\
