Solve for x.
Minus 6 from both sides. I will look like this: 5x+6-6=-4-6. It now equals 5x=-10. Divide both sides by by 5. Now, x=-2

So since the 6 is positive, you do the opposite and subtract it by itself. Do the same on the other side, which would be -4 - 6 (I drew a line down the equal sign so it would be easier).

Next, you subtract them. The 6s cancel each other out since all you’ll get from it is 0. Subtract -4 - 6 to get -10.

Now that you’ve subtracted, it leaves you with 5x. The purpose of that is so you can get x by itself. Bring down 5x and divide it by itself. Do the same with -10, so -10 divided by 5.

Divide -10 by 5, to get -. I hope this helps you! Excuse my handwriting haha

If cosine theta equals negative square root of three over two and pi over two less than theta less than pi, what are the values
Natalka [10]
<h2>Answer:</h2>

The values of sinθ and tanθ are:

\sin \theta=\dfrac{1}{2}

and

\tan \theta=-\dfrac{1}{\sqrt{3}}=-\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{3}

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

It is given that:

\cos \theta=-\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{2}

where

\dfrac{\pi}{2}

i.e. the angle θ lie in the second quadrant.

Also, we know that in the second quadrant sine and cosecant function is positive.

whereas cosine,secant, tangent and cotangent functions are negative.

Now, we know that:

\cos (\dfrac{5\pi}{6})=-\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{2}

i.e. here

\theta=\dfrac{5\pi}{6}

Hence, we have:

\sin (\theta)=\sin (\dfrac{5\pi}{6})\\\\i.e.\\\\\sin \theta=\dfrac{1}{2}

Also,

\tan \theta=\dfrac{\sin \theta}{\cos \theta}\\\\i.e.\\\\\tan \theta=\dfrac{\dfrac{1}{2}}{\dfrac{-\sqrt{3}}{2}}\\\\i.e.\\\\\tan \theta=\dfrac{1}{-\sqrt{3}}\\\\i.e.\\\\\tan \theta=-\dfrac{1}{\sqrt{3}}

Now, on rationalizing we have:

\tan \theta=-\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{3}

Suppose all left-handed people are excluded from a sample. What is this an example of?
Gala2k [10]

The proportion of left-handed people in the general population is about 0.1. Suppose a random sample of 225 people is observed.

1. What is the sampling distribution of the sample proportion (p-hat)? In other words, what can we say about the behavior of the different possible values of the sample proportion that we can get when we take such a sample?

(Note: normal approximation is valid because .1(225) = 22.5 and .9(225) = 202.5 are both more than 10.)

2. Since the sample proportion has a normal distribution, its values follow the Standard Deviation Rule. What interval is almost certain (probability .997) to contain the sample proportion of left-handed people?

3. In a sample of 225 people, would it be unusual to find that 40 people in the sample are left-handed?

4. Find the approximate probability of at least 27 in 225 (proportion .12) being left-handed. In other words, what is P(p-hat ? 0.12)?

Guidance: Note that 0.12 is exactly 1 standard deviation (0.02) above the mean (0.1). Now use the Standard Deviation Rule.

Help plz my teacher won't help
lesantik [10]

Answer:

y = -3x + 9

Step-by-step explanation:

y = mx + b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept

The hypotenuse is on the same line as BC but twice as long.  So extend that line up and it will cross the y axis at (0,9).  9 will be your y intercept.

To find the slope start at C and count  up 9 and to the left 3 to get to B.

So the slope is rise/run or 9/(-3) = -3.

Final equation would be y = -3x + 9
