The intracellular fluid compartment contains more than the extracellular fluid compartment. The intracellular fluid compartment (ICF) makes about 60% of the total fluid in the human body. It is approximately about 25 liters or 7 gallons of fluid in an average male body. The extracellular fluid compartment is about 30% of the body's total fluid. The other 20% is from the plasma.
