The continental drift theory was first introduced by Alfred Wegener, in which he said that all the continents floats over the surface of the earth, across the large oceans. He forwarded many evidences in support of this theory.
According to his pieces of evidences, it was concluded that all the present day scattered continents were once attached together forming a huge landmass. This initially occurring super-continent is known as the Pangaea, which eventually got split into the present day configuration over a large geological time.
Thus, the name of this initially formed super-continent is the Pangaea.
