Consider a spacecraft in an elliptical orbit around the earth. At the low point, or perigee, of its orbit, it is 500 above the e

arth's surface; at the high point, or apogee, it is 4000 above the earth's surface.. . Using conservation of angular momentum, find the ratio of the spacecraft's speed at perigee to its speed at apogee.. .

We know that semimajor axis is a = (1/2)[(Re + hp)+(Re +ha)]
                                                  = 9.13*106 m
Re = radius of earth= 6380 km = 6380000 m
hp = height of perigee = 500 km = 500000 m
ha = height of apogee = 5000 km = 5000000 m
M = mass of the earth = 5.98*1024 kg
G = 6.67*10-11 Nm2/kg2
we know that time period of revolution of the spacecraft is
T= 2πa3/2/√GM
Then T = 2π*(9.13*106 )3/2/√6.67*10-11 *5.98*1024 = 8.67*103 sec

mvprp =mvara
vp = spacecraft's speed at perigee
va=spacecraft's speed at apogee

Then vp /va =ra/rp = (Re+ha)/(Re +hp) = 6380+5000/6380+500
=1.654

The maximum allowed leakage of microwave radiation from a microwave oven is 5.0 mw/cm2. if microwave radiation outside an oven h
irina [24]

Answer:

194 V/m

Explanation:

In order to find electric field, we can use the formula of power density

i.e Pd = E^2 / Z

where:

Pd = power density in W/m^2

E = electric field strength in V/m

Z = impedance of free space = 120 * π

E = sqrt(Pd * Z) -----> re-arranging it for E

before solving, convert Pd unit into W/m^2

Pd= 5mW/cm^2 = 50 W/m^2

Solving for E:

E= sqrt(50 * 120 * π)

E = 137.3 V/m

the above value is RMS value

In order to find the peak amplitude of the oscillating field will therefore be 137.3 * sqrt(2) = 194 V/m

What information and measurements would you need to calculate the rate of movement?
aliina [53]
When you talk about rate, you will expect that it will be in terms of a time unit. It measures how fast it is going. So, you would expect that the denominator is in time units. For the movement, you can measure this with either distance or velocity.

So, for the first variety, you would need distance and time to measure the rate of how far you go at a certain time. It is also called as velocity. For the second variety, you would need velocity and time to measure the rate of how fast you are going at a certain interval. It is also called as acceleration.

How lubricant reduce friction
Tamiku [17]
Lubricant is a type of oil. It smoothes surfaces. Meaning anything rubbing against the other object wont produce enough heat, which is what creates friction. Its an ideal tool to use for a lot of things.

I hope this helps :)

Why is Saturn almost as big as Jupiter, despite its smaller mass?
gulaghasi [49]

Answer:

c. Jupiter's greater mass compresses it more, thus increasing its density.

Explanation:

The mass of Jupiter is greater in its interior, this mass compresses Jupiter to some extent. Thus, its density is increased. Now, more mass is compressed in the lesser volume. Hence, its size does not increase enormously. On the other hand the mass of Saturn is lesser and also density lower. this gives Saturn a reasonably higher volume.

Hence, option C is correct.
